Advertising price changes 2026

An Update to Our Advertising Pricing

Since Snicket launched three years ago, our mission has remained the same: to connect job seekers with the brilliant organisations doing vital work across Bradford and beyond, at a price that doesn’t put advertising out of reach for the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector.

For three years, we held our listing prices firm. This was a deliberate decision, made because we understand the financial pressures that charities and community organisations face, and we want to remove as many barriers as possible to getting great roles in front of great candidates.

But the cost of running and growing Snicket, like the cost of running any project, has risen. With mounting operational pressures and a responsibility to ensure the platform continues to serve the VCSE sector, we’ve made the decision to update our advertising prices for the first time since launch.

Our new pricing, effective from 1st April 2026 will be:

  • Bradford-based charities – £30 per listing (previously £15)
  • Outside Bradford charities – £45 per listing (previously £30)
  • Private organisations – £75 per listing (previously £50)

We want to be transparent, and honest. We know this increase may be difficult for some of you, we also know that Snicket remains significantly more affordable than other vacancy sites. We continue to offer a reduced price to our core beneficiaries, those inside of Bradford.

Every pound spent advertising on Snicket goes back into Community Action Bradford & District to fund vital community support work. When you advertise with us, you are funding our grassroots support, making a real difference to Bradford communities. You are contributing directly to the VCSE infrastructure that Bradford depends on.

Snicket gives your vacancies genuine reach. Through social media promotion, newsletters and sector partnerships, your listing is seen by the right people, motivated, mission-aligned candidates who want to make a difference in their community.

A note for grassroots organisations

We know that for some smaller organisations, even modest costs can feel like a stretch. If your group is earning less than £100,000 per year and you’re concerned about affording a listing, please get in touch with us. We’re committed to finding a way to support you, and we don’t want financial constraints to stop important roles from being filled.

Snicket exists to serve this sector. That hasn’t changed and it won’t.

Get in touch via our Contact Us page, or head to snicket.org to register and upload your vacancy today.

Ace Your 2026 Job Interview: Top Tips for Success

Ace Your 2026 Job Interview! The job market is constantly evolving, and in 2026, we can expect even more technological integration and a stronger emphasis on adaptable skills. Landing your dream job will require more than just a stellar CV; you’ll need to shine in the interview. Below we have outlined our top tips for navigating the interview process in 2026:

Master Virtual & In-Person Etiquette:
Expect a mix of virtual and in-person interviews. Ensure your virtual setup is professional: good lighting, a clean background you can use a blurred background if preferred, and reliable internet. There’s nothing worse than freezing during you’re A* answers, only to need to repeat it again.

Practice maintaining eye contact through the camera and engaging with the interviewer as if you were face-to-face. This is especially important if you have some notes at the side. We recommend you use keywords as notes to direct your thinking, rather than full sentences and explanations. This will stop you sounding like and looking like you are reading your answers. For in-person interviews, remember traditional etiquette: arrive early, dress professionally, and maintain a positive attitude.

Familiarise Yourself with Virtual Interview Platforms:
Know the ins and outs of popular platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet. Companies may use other platforms as linked in this sub-header. Test your equipment beforehand and understand features like screen sharing and virtual backgrounds.

Prepare for Asynchronous Interviews:
Some companies may use pre-recorded video interviews. Practice answering common interview questions concisely and confidently in front of a camera.

Highlight Your Digital Literacy:
In 2026, basic tech skills might not cut it. Demonstrate your proficiency in relevant software to the jobs you are applying for, data analysis and reporting, and emerging technologies like AI and automation.

Emphasize Your Learning Agility:
Companies are looking for candidates who can quickly adapt to new technologies and changing work environments. Share examples of how you’ve learned new skills and embraced change in the past. If you can, build a portfolio of work that you can either house on a website or blogging site, or simply you can share a PDF version before your interview. We recommend 3 items to share. Include your most recent work, work you are most proud of, and work that helped make a positive change.

Demonstrate Remote Collaboration Skills:
With remote and hybrid work likely to remain prevalent, showcase your ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams. Highlight your experience using collaboration tools and your communication skills.

Emphasize Emotional Intelligence (EQ):
In a world of increasing automation, human skills like empathy, communication, and problem-solving become even more valuable. Provide examples of how you’ve used your EQ to navigate challenging situations.

Showcase Your Creativity and Innovation:
Companies are looking for candidates who can think outside the box and contribute fresh ideas. Share examples of your creative problem-solving and innovative thinking.

Demonstrate Your Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Abilities:
Be prepared to discuss complex issues and demonstrate your ability to analyse information and develop effective solutions. Don’t forget to use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers.

Research the Company’s Tech Stack and Culture:
Understand the technologies the company uses and its values. At Tech Stack is the combination of technologies, tools, and platforms used to build, run, and manage its software products or systems. Tailor your answers to demonstrate how your skills and experience align with their needs.

Connect with Current Employees on LinkedIn:
Gain insights into the company culture and the day-to-day work experience. This is a great way to gain insights into the organisation you are applying for. Just by bringing up some of their recent work with them at interview, will impress the panel.

Prepare Thoughtful Questions:
Asking insightful questions demonstrates your interest and engagement. Focus on questions that show you’ve done your research and are genuinely interested in the role and the company.

Ask questions like:
How long have you worked here and do you enjoy working here?

What is one thing you would change about the company if you could? (This will prompt them to think of a negative, and if they are open and honest, they should be able to give you an example of something they would change).

You could ask them what they liked about your application, and what they didn’t like about your application. This will give you a chance to go deeper into a weaker section of your application to try and buff it out verbally. And when they tell you positives about your application, this will put it in the front of their minds about the things they like about you.

Highlight Your Commitment to Lifelong Learning:

Show that you’re proactive in staying up-to-date with industry trends and developing new skills. For digital skills HubSpot is a great platform for learning new skills, as is LinkedIn learning. Ask your interviewers if they provide access to this as an organisation for personal development.

Seek Feedback and Reflect on Your Performance:
After each interview, take time to reflect on your performance and identify areas for improvement.

Stay Positive and Persistent:
The job search can be challenging, but maintaining a positive attitude and staying persistent will increase your chances of success.

Be unforgettable:
Building a rapport with your interviewers may be difficult to do, but there is normally at short window at the start of an interview for some small talk. Use this window to ask how each member of the panel is, and tell them you’re grateful for them taking the time to interview you.

By following these tips, you’ll be well-prepared to navigate the evolving job interview landscape and land your dream job in 2026. Good luck!

Image of young people updating their LinkedIn profiles. 10 Game-Changing Job Search Tips for 2025

10 Game-Changing Job Search Tips for 2025

The 10 top tips for job searching in 2025

Listen, the job market in 2025 hits different than it did even two years ago. Whether you’re fresh out of Uni, switching careers, or just trying to escape that soul-crushing retail job, the game has changed. Here’s your guide to landing that bag in 2025.

1. Your LinkedIn Needs to Be Main Character Energy

Remember when LinkedIn was just boomers posting motivational quotes over sunrises? Yeah, that’s dead. In 2025, LinkedIn is where recruiters are actually looking for you. Your profile needs to slap: professional headshot (not your gym mirror selfie), a headline that’s more than just “Student” or “Seeking Opportunities,” and posts that show you know what you’re talking about. Think of it as your professional Instagram where the algorithm actually works in your favour.

2. AI Is Your Bestie (But Don’t Let It Write Everything)

Tools like ChatGPT can help you draft cover letters and polish your CV, but here’s the tea: recruiters can spot AI-generated applications from a mile away now. Use AI to brainstorm and structure, but inject your actual personality. If your cover letter sounds like a robot having an existential crisis, you’ve gone too far. The vibe should be “AI-assisted human” not “human-assisted AI.”

3. Network Like Your Job Depends On It (Because It Does)

That stat about 70-80% of jobs never being advertised? Still true, still devastating. The job you want might not even exist yet until someone thinks of you. Slide into DMs (professionally), comment thoughtfully on industry posts, go to actual networking events even if they make you want to cry. I know it feels like the social equivalent of doing cardio, but one coffee chat could literally change your life. Plus, free coffee.

4. Your CV Needs to Beat the Bots

Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) are the Ibiza final boss you need to defeat before a human even sees your CV. Use keywords from the job description, keep formatting simple (sorry, those aesthetic Canva templates might get rejected), and save as a PDF unless told otherwise. Think of it like SEO but for your career. You’re not just writing for humans anymore.

5. Personal Projects > Perfect Grades

Nobody cares that you got a 2:1 at Uni if you can’t prove you can actually do the thing. Built a portfolio website? Created a TikTok account that got 10k followers? Organised a charity event? Started a side hustle? That’s the stuff that makes recruiters go “okay, this person gets it.” Your personal projects are proof of work, and in 2025, receipts matter more than grades. That’s not to say the grades don’t matter as they give you the foundation to build your experiences on. The higher grades you achieve, then of course the more doors you can open.

6. Video Applications Are the New Normal

Some companies are asking for video introductions or recorded interview responses now, and honestly? It’s giving Black Mirror but we’re here anyway. Since 2020 online interviews and video interviews have taken off like a Jet2 holiday! We suggest you practice talking to your camera without looking like you’re being held hostage. Good lighting, clean background, and for the love of god, look at the camera not at yourself on the screen. Pretend you’re filming a get-ready-with-me but make it professional.

7. The Portfolio Website Is Non-Negotiable

Even if you’re not in a “creative” field, having a simple portfolio website/channel shows you have digital literacy and initiative. Buy a domain with your name (they’re like £10), throw up some projects, testimonials, and a way to contact you. It doesn’t need to be Behance-level gorgeous, just functional and professional. Think of it as your digital handshake. Of course, LinkedIn is a great alternative to having a website.

8. Company Culture Research Goes Deep

Don’t just check if they have a ping pong table and call it a day. Check Glassdoor reviews, look at their social media, see who works there on LinkedIn and what they’re saying. Are there young people there who seem happy? Do they promote from within? What’s the vibe? You wouldn’t date someone without checking their Instagram first, so why accept a job without proper stalking—Sorry, I mean research.

9. Follow Up Without ‘Being That Person’

Sending a thank-you email after an interview isn’t cringe, it’s strategic. But there’s a fine line between “following up” and “why are you ignoring me we literally made eye contact.” Send one thank-you within 24 hours, maybe one check-in a week later if you haven’t heard back, and then let it go. You’re Elsa from Frozen now. Desperation isn’t the vibe.

10. Rejection Is Redirection (No, Really Though)

You’re going to get ghosted. You’re going to get automated rejections that sting. You might interview somewhere four times and still get a no. It’s giving emotional damage, but here’s the thing: every rejection is practice for the yes that actually matters. The job market in 2025 is brutal, and if you’re not getting rejected, you’re not applying enough. Keep the ratio in perspective: you only need ONE yes to change everything.

The Real Talk Section

Job searching in 2025 feels impossible sometimes because, well, it kind of is. The entry-level job that requires 3-5 years of experience is still out there being ridiculous. The salary that hasn’t kept up with inflation is still insulting. The “we’re all family here” company that expects you to work unpaid overtime is still wilding.

But you’ve got advantages previous generations didn’t: remote work options, personal branding platforms, AI tools, and a whole generation that’s done with toxic work culture. Use them. Be strategic, be persistent, and remember that your worth isn’t determined by how fast you land a role.

Now go update that LinkedIn and make 2025 your year. You’ve got this. 💪

Image of charity staff. Keep your stars shining. How to retain employees

Keep Your Stars Shining: Staff Retention for Small Charities in Bradford in 2025

Keep your stars shining! The year 2025 presents both exciting opportunities and familiar challenges for small charities in Bradford. As the backbone of our community, your work in the Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector is more vital than ever. But to continue making a profound impact, retaining your dedicated staff is paramount. High staff turnover can be costly and disruptive, hindering your mission. This post explores how small charities in Bradford can foster an environment where employees don’t just stay, but thrive, and touches upon making your ‘recruitment in Bradford’ efforts more effective.

What’s it Really Like Working in Bradford’s VCSE Sector?

For many, working in the VCSE sector in Bradford is more than just a job; it’s a calling. Employees are driven by a desire to make a tangible difference in their local communities. They often experience a strong sense of purpose, working on the front lines to tackle issues from health and wellbeing to financial security and community cohesion. The work can be incredibly rewarding, offering opportunities to connect deeply with the people you support and see the direct impact of your efforts.

However, it’s also a sector that comes with unique pressures. Smaller charities, in particular, often operate with tight budgets and limited resources. This can mean staff members wear multiple hats and sometimes face higher workloads. The emotional investment can also be significant. Understanding this landscape is the first step in building effective retention strategies. Attracting talent through ‘jobs in Bradford’ listings for the VCSE sector means being upfront about both the immense rewards and the realistic challenges.

Why People Stay, Why They Go: Understanding Your Team in 2025

Employees in any sector leave for a variety of reasons: better pay, career progression, or a desire for a different work environment. In the Bradford VCSE sector, these are compounded by the passion-driven nature of the work. Staff might stay because they are deeply committed to your charity’s mission and feel valued. They might leave if they feel burnt out, under-supported, or see limited opportunities for personal or professional growth.

The 2025 ‘recruitment in Bradford’ market is predicted to remain competitive, with organisations vying for skilled and passionate individuals. For small charities, this means retention is not just about preventing loss, but also about being an employer of choice.

Future-Proof Your Team: Retention Strategies for Small Bradford Charities in 2025

Even with limited budgets, small charities in Bradford can implement powerful strategies to retain their valuable employees:

  1. Competitive (Within Means) Compensation and Benefits: While matching corporate salaries might be impossible, ensure your pay is as fair as possible within your means. Research what similar roles in ‘jobs in Bradford’ within the VCSE sector offer. Crucially, as highlighted by Third Sector Network, even modest, thoughtful pay rises can significantly boost morale and demonstrate value. Explore affordable benefits like increased annual leave, contributions to training, or employee assistance programs. The West Yorkshire Health & Care Partnership also points to resources like Charity Worker Discounts that can be promoted.
  2. Cultivate a Thriving, Supportive Culture: A positive workplace culture is a huge retention driver.
    • Recognition and Appreciation: Regularly acknowledge hard work and achievements. This doesn’t always need to be financial; a heartfelt thank you, public acknowledgement, or a small team celebration can go a long way.
    • Empowerment and Trust: Give your staff autonomy in their roles where possible. A culture where employees feel trusted and empowered fosters loyalty.
    • Team Cohesion: Encourage teamwork and mutual support. The feeling of being ‘in it together’ is a powerful motivator in the VCSE sector.
    • Wellbeing Focus: Actively promote work-life balance and address the risk of burnout. Forbes highlights reducing employee burnout and providing wellness offerings as key for 2025. The WY Partnership offers mental health and wellbeing resources for the VCSE workforce – ensure your team knows about them.
  3. Embrace Flexibility: The modern workforce values flexibility. Where operational needs allow, offer flexible working hours, remote or hybrid options. As Breathe HR suggests, this can be a significant retention tool and can widen your talent pool for ‘recruitment in Bradford’.
  4. Invest in Growth and Development: Employees are more likely to stay if they see a future with your organisation.
    • Skill Enhancement: Provide opportunities for training and development, even if it’s through low-cost online courses, mentoring, or shadowing. Initiatives like the Building Bradford Skills Fund, which supports charities in boosting employability, show the local focus on this.
    • Career Pathing: Discuss career aspirations with your staff. Even in a small charity, there might be opportunities to take on new responsibilities or lead projects.
  5. Strong, Empathetic Leadership: Good management is critical. Ensure your leaders and managers are approachable, supportive, and communicate effectively. They should be champions of your charity’s mission and its people.
  6. Deepen the Connection to Mission and Impact: Remind staff regularly of the difference they are making. Share success stories and testimonials. This intrinsic motivation is a unique advantage for charities. The work of Bradford-based charities like Bradford Central Foodbank, The Cellar Trust, and Smart Works, as noted by Yorkshire Building Society, clearly demonstrates this local impact.

Making Your ‘Recruitment in Bradford’ Work for Retention

Attracting the right people from the outset is key to long-term retention. When advertising ‘jobs in Bradford’, be clear about your mission, the role, and the realities of working in a small charity.

  • Highlight Your USP: Emphasise the unique benefits of working for your cause and the close-knit team environment.
  • Involve the Team: Where appropriate, involve current staff in the hiring process. They can offer valuable insights and help find a good cultural fit.
  • Look Local: Utilise local job boards like Snicket (hosted by Community Action Bradford & District), which specifically focus on not-for-profit vacancies in the area. This platform not only connects job seekers with local employers but also reinvests income into community support.

A Stable Team for a Stronger Bradford

Retaining your staff in 2025 is an investment in your charity’s future and its ability to serve the Bradford community effectively. By fostering a supportive, engaging, and rewarding work environment, you can build a resilient team that is passionate about your mission. While the ‘recruitment in Bradford’ landscape may be competitive, focusing on what makes your small charity a great place to work will not only help you keep your stars but also attract new ones.

What does the future look like for Bradford?

Well, the simple answer is, growth.

Tracy Brabin, The Mayor of West Yorkshire has set out her Local Growth Plan (LGP) that she says “will transform the (West Yorkshire) region, boost the economy and put more money in people’s pockets.”

This Local Growth Plan has been projected to support the creation on 33,000 new jobs and add £26 billion to the UK economy over the next ten years, according to the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

The plan reveals the Combined Authority’s commitment to invest £7 billion to support business growth, upskilling job seekers and employees, improve and build a quick and reliable public transport system and create affordable and sustainable homes for all.

Also, within Bradford, we will see the opening of the brand-new Darley Street Market and Bradford Live, which will boost footfall and the local economy further.

Summary

In short, Bradford will be a place of growth over the next few years, welcoming in a positive change from the last few years, job seekers should have more opportunities, and businesses will benefit from local investments.
