Role Background

Bradford District and Craven Mind (BDC Mind) is a thriving independent mental health organisation, making a positive difference to the mental health and wellbeing of people of all-ages living in Bradford District and Craven. In January 2024, BDC Mind and Staying Put won a joint bid to deliver mental health services to ethnically and culturally diverse communities (ECDC) in Bradford District and Craven. To ensure the services were culturally responsive, the first year was been spent researching, collaborating and listening to the needs of the communities we serve. Since April 2025, the Hope and Light programme of culturally responsive mental health services have been available for people from South Asian, Black African, Black Caribbean, Central and Eastern European and Roma communities. The Hope and Light service works together with ten grassroots organisations to deliver culturally responsive services to people who need them across the Bradford District and Craven.

Reporting to the Head of Services, the Service Manager will play a pivotal role in leading the effective delivery and continuous development of the Hope and Light programme. This leadership role requires vision, innovation, and a real commitment and passion to driving inclusive, culturally response services.

We particularly welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate a deep understanding of health inequalities facing ethnically and culturally diverse communities.

Role Purpose

As the Hope and Light Service Manager, your primary purpose will be to lead the delivery of impactful, subcontracted, community-led mental health interventions that actively reduce health inequalities. You will work closely with partners to lead a team of Community Engagement Workers and be responsible for building good working relationships with subcontracted providers. A primary part of your role will be raising awareness of the Hope and Light service, building and strengthening connections with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting our providers to deliver high quality, well utilised services that are culturally responsive, accessible and effective.

We are seeking a passionate individual with a deep understanding of health inequalities facing ethnically and culturally diverse communities – someone who is driven to challenge injustice, amplify underrepresented voices, and influence meaningful, systemic change. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping service quality, driving improvement, and fostering collaboration across partners to ensure our collective efforts lead to real, lasting impact.
