Role Description

Mental Health Advocate

Are you looking for a rewarding role that allows you to support vulnerable clients who are fleeing domestic abuse?

About the role

As a Mental Health Advocate, you will be supporting individuals in the accommodation service, offering a trauma informed and solution focused approach to your work. You will use your skills and experience in this specialist role to support colleagues through collaborative work and create pathways of support for some of our most vulnerable clients. In this challenging but very rewarding role, you will work with clients and specialist services to ensure the client’s individual needs are recognised and met appropriately, create and deliver sessions focused on wellbeing to help reduce risk of further harm and help clients feel more empowered and safe. This post is district wide where you will be working with accommodation clients in our refuges and dispersed properties.

Full time, 37.5 hrs per week, £27,554-£28,735 FTE, depending on qualifications. 12-month maternity cover.

About you

You will have a minimum 1 years’ experience of working within mental health services or with clients where mental health and wellbeing was the predominant need. A recognised qualification in mental health is desirable but not essential. You will have experience of assessing needs and creating packages of support for clients with multiple/complex needs.

You will have a can-do attitude and the passion and drive to help people gain confidence in their daily lives and feel empowered. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have a patient and friendly approach. You will be able to work on you own initiative and in partnership with colleagues and external agencies. You will be able to demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities.
