Are you passionate about supporting women, babies, and families in the first 1001 days (pregnancy up to age 2)? Are you organised, proactive, adaptable, and skilled in engaging families and professionals? Do you have experience of providing advice and signposting and / or running group sessions?
Family Action Perinatal Support Service has been running two successful Maternity Circles for more than 2 years. We have an established and effective model in place, families who attend enjoy the sessions and content, and are able to access healthcare, support, advice and activities. The Circles live up to our aim to ‘Open the Door to Access More!’. We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Maternity Circle Facilitator to continue this delivery.

Role Description
Main Responsibilities:
- Facilitating the 2 weekly Maternity Circle sessions in 2 community venues, including setting up provision and providing content, and organising and planning for future sessions.
- Being the friendly face and welcoming presence in the Circle sessions, building rapport with families who attend, and aiming to meet their needs.
- Collecting and recording data, using reflective logs, and creating quarterly case studies.
- Consulting with families as to what they want from the Circles, in order to tailor content and future sessions to meet those needs.
- Liaising with professionals and community workers across the maternity system and the local area, in order to plan for content delivery, and to effectively signpost or refer on to other services as needed.
Main Requirements (for details check the job description and person specification):
- Personal experience of pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenting, or of having supported other parents in the first 1001 days of baby’s life.
- Experience of running groups or sessions, and / or of supporting families and communities.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability work autonomously, including forward planning for future Circle sessions.
- Good networking and engagement skills, able to both be friendly and welcoming in leading Circle sessions, and to build connections with professionals and community workers to benefit the Circle and the attendees.
- Appointments are subject to Family Action receiving a satisfactory disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
