Service Manager – Hope and Light Programme

Reporting to the Programme Director, the Service Manager will play a pivotal role in leading the effective delivery and continuous development of the Hope and Light programme. This leadership role requires vision, innovation, and a commitment to equity in mental health services.

The postholder will lead and support a team of Community Engagement Workers embedded within grassroots organisations, ensuring they deliver high-quality, community-led interventions. They will work closely with partner organisations to enhance culturally responsive mental health support, improve access, and reduce inequalities. Additionally, they will advocate for systemic change by amplifying community voices, challenging stigma, and influencing policy and practice.

Our ideal candidate will have leadership and management experience and will be able to develop and maintain positive relationships at all levels. We are looking for someone who is focused on service expansion, improvement, quality and safety. They will be able to show that they have a good knowledge of health inequalities and the impact these have on people with mental health challenges.

Role Description

The role will appeal to those who have:

  • Proven project management skills, ensuring coordinated, community-informed service delivery across organisations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, creating safe spaces, bridging gaps between services, and advocating for culturally competent support.
  • A proactive and compassionate approach to mental health, using community engagement to drive early intervention, reduce stigma, and improve accessibility.
  • A commitment to improving mental health support for underserved communities, embedding community engagement in service design, policy, and system-wide change.

Key duties:

  • Lead, support, and develop a team of Community Engagement Workers, ensuring high-quality, culturally responsive mental health support is delivered across grassroots organisations. 
  • Strengthen partnerships with grassroots and provider organisations, fostering collaboration to enhance access, reduce stigma, and improve service delivery for ethnically and culturally diverse communities. 
  • Ensuring strategic alignment with the programme’s mission and goals, keeping the team focused on delivering measurable outcomes that improve mental health access and reduce inequalities. 
  • Oversee service monitoring and evaluation, collecting and analysing data to assess impact, inform decision-making, and drive continuous improvement in mental health provision. 
  • Advocate for systemic change by representing the programme at strategic meetings, forums, and events, influencing policy and amplifying community voices. 
  • Represent the programme at local events, forums, and strategic meetings to amplify community voices. 
  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies and procedures, embedding best practices in safeguarding, health and safety, and equality, diversity, and inclusion. 
  • Lead service development and innovation, identifying opportunities for improvement, expansion, and best practice implementation to enhance the programme’s effectiveness. 
  • Attend team meetings and local events to build relationships with key stakeholders. 
  • Ensure that in all aspects of the role you embody the aims, objectives, and core values of Mind in Bradford. 
  • Champion the Bradford District and Craven Mind ‘Code of Conduct’ to ensure that it well communicated, understood and implemented at all times both by staff, volunteers and clients. 
  • Ensure that the relevant colleagues and a competent understanding of, and comply with, all Bradford District and Craven Mind policies and procedures. 
  • Take responsibility, with colleagues, for ensuring that all Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Information Governance and Equality & Diversity requirements are met and all other Company policies complied with. 
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties or tasks deemed necessary by the senior management team.
