Management of our three minibuses, ensuring that they are safe, legal and ready for each journey, with the support of the volunteer drivers providing input to preparation tasks.

We are seeking a well-organised individual, with “D1 restricted” license who is able to work flexibly to suit the needs of the operation.  12 hours/week.

£25,183 pro rata. Salary Band 6 SCP 6 NJC scale (under review from 1 April 2025).

Role Description

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Engage with the team of volunteer drivers to support them and for them to support the tasks of minibus preparation.
  2. To manage the fleet of buses to ensure they are safe, legal, and prepared for operation. This will include ensuring that the following is done, with volunteer support as appropriate:
    • Daily and weekly checks, safety inspections, maintenance and MOTs are programmed are carried out and documented.
    • Reported faults are dealt with.
    • Permits, insurance and road tax are kept up to date.
    • Cleaning and refuelling
    • The buses are ready for specific hire requirements, such as removal of seats.
  3. Supporting the Transport Office Coordinator in determining specific hire requirements for groups such as the need for wheelchair handling and other mobility issues.
  4. Be the first point of contact regarding any aspect of the operation of the minibuses, supported by the trustee responsible for minibuses.
  5. To act as a driver when required to meet booking commitments.
  6. Any additional duties that may reasonably be expected to fulfil the role and as may be requested by the Management Committee.
